Velvet Byron Bay opened in 2017 to rave reviews, and it is no surprise. Manager and head chef, V, created fresh delicious salads and snacks. V was also very passionate about her coffee, hands-down some of the best in town.
We entered the picture to provide Velvet with fresh and modern cabinetry to reflect the café’s groovy vibe. The café shopfitting project involved multiple parts: the back and front of house plus the customer tables.
The front of house featured American Oak veneer and black suede-looking cabinetry, along with Carrara stone waterfall bench tops.
The back of house had commercial-grade integrated stainless steel sinks and benchtops.
The tables were made with powder-coated white steel legs on castors, with a mix of Carrara stone and American Oak tops.
All of these were chosen to create eye-catching and perfectly seamless textural, material and visual contrasts while keeping with the theme of clean, contemporary lines.
Note: Velvet has now been replaced with another business, and several shop fitting items have been modified by other parties.
